R56 HPFP extended warranty

Hi,
My dealership is looking at my 2012 Cooper S for HPFP related engine lights and they have agreed to replace the HPFP free of cost as it is still short of 10 yr/120k milestone. However, they are asking me to pay up more than $175 for the serpentine belt change. Isn't this something they should take care of with the HPFP replacement? Also, the belt costs under $30 on Mini Mania.
Thank you!

How many miles since the belt was last replaced. It is a wear item and often starts to crack before it breaks, which you don't want to have happen.

I think it is just one of those items they look for whenever you bring the car in.

My CM belt was 25 parts & 100 labor (2016) when it was done. It is a DIY item if you are so inclined and capable. You could take it elsewhere and save some money, but is the hassle worth it? $175 is high.

Doing the serpentine belt is easy, buy the belt and the tool from one of our forum vendors and DIY. And as others above said - serpentine belt has nothing to do with the HPFP, and yes it's a wear item.

) raise the car and remove the right front wheel
2) remove a bunch of plastic expanding retainers and 2 T-30 screws, then remove the wheel well liner
3) use the tool to pull back on the tensioner, pop in the retaining pin
4) pull the tab to release the friction wheel
5) remove old belt
6) fit new belt
7) grab the wrench again, another tug on the tensioner to release the retaining pin then let the tensioner go back to work
8) push the tab on the friction wheel back into place
9) replace wheel well liner and fasteners
10) replace wheel.

You can buy the belt, tool, and jackstand to DIY, and have money left over from $175 to go out to dinner.
