Mini Next Program on Base Mini

Hopefully i'm in the right section here but i'm looking for all input. I've been looking at mini's for some time now, coming from a BMW background and decided an R56 is right for me, newer gen is a tad too comfortable. I have a fun car for weekends so I just wanted an economical yet fun, well-made car. So i'm going for the non-S, actually a 2013 Baker Street manual to be more specific. The cars i'm looking for will have less than 50,000 kms. The question is this, would it be worth spending the extra $5,000 CDN for a warranty from a dealer or are the non-s models reliable enough for me to buy a one owner car? Thanks, all input appreciated.
