So after scouring the forum it looks like I have figured out the problem. Apparently my FRM has decided to kick the bucket. According to done of the posts I've read mini has extended the warranty on then so I'll be getting in contract with them and hopefully ferrying a new one and not have to shell out the money for one on my own.
