Timing Belt/Chain & Leaking Oil

Hey guys, I have a mini cooper 2008 mini hatchback base, I would like to know if you have any idea how much would it cost to fix the TIMING BELT? And my car as well is leaking oil, and there is something they want me to look out for the AXLE SEAL?

I just want to know roughly it cost before i fully paid the car, thanks guys. This is a second hand mini cooper, bought year ago.

See image for more details.

The R56 has a timing chain, not belt. Do you think you could tackle some of these jobs yourself or are you more comfortable taking it into a professional shop? If you want to go the shop route, I suggest you find a local MINI indy shop. You can use this site here: http://www.minirepairshops.com/. Find one near you and call them to get a quote. They should be cheaper than the dealer.

We do have a timing chain kit here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg1.htm#item3 and you can have a shop install it for you.

The axle seal is here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg1.htm#item0 and we have a DIY here that you can take a look at to see what the process takes: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...eplacement.htm

We can get you the other parts you need as well. Let me know if you have any questions.

Why do you think you need a timing chain replaced? They are not nearly as common a failure as the N14, but they do fail nonetheless.

You do however have a water pump leak, which I would address in the near future.

That oil looks to be from the control arm bushing which is hydraulically filled, over time that bushing will slowly deteriorate and fall apart due to water and dirt getting into it and slowly killing it.

As for the passengers axle seal leak; you can fix it but nearly half of them we do end up leaking again ironically just as they pass through their two year MINI warranty. That also isn't too bad a leak at this point.
