2009 Clogged Fuel Injector

New MINI owner. 2009 w/38K miles. Yellow engine light with misfire on #4 cylinder and clogged fuel injector the possible diagnosis. MINI dealer wants to replace all fuel injectors ($900). Does anyone have other thoughts or options? Thanks!

Most people will say no way to a clogged injector. Let them tell you HOW they diagnosed it...they are about to rip you off.....Usually it is either a spark plug or a coil pack. if you still have the car, pop the hood and swap coils and see if the code move with the coil. if you dont have a reader, after the swap (let's say 1 with 4) unplug the "new" 4 coil in see if there is a difference.

What diagnostic work did they do that led them to believe it's the injector? Dealers typically like to just replace parts vs. diagnosing fully. There are steps to take first. Since your R56 has such low miles, I'm going to think the spark plugs have never been replaced? MINI recommends an interval of 100,000 miles, however, I typically change them around 30k. Spark plug replacement and additional info can be found here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...eplacement.htm.

As MiniToBe said above, you can test by swapping the #4 spark plug with a different cylinder and see if it follows and starts to misfire in the new cylinder. If it ends up being the plug, you can purchase them here for much less than the dealer: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg1.htm#item0. If you're unsure which ones please let me know the last 7 digits of your vin and I can help. If you're unsure if you can do the replace yourself, use this site here: http://www.minirepairshops.com/ to find a local indy shop near you. Let us know what you find out.

Thanks to both of you for the heads up. I'll swap the plug out of 4 and see if that eliminates the problem. If so, I'll replace all four. Thanks for the links.

Not the plug so much as the coil on top of it. Just switch both.
