Catalytic Converter Relocation?

I am thinking of going with a cat delete down pipe but still wanted to do the cat under the car. I just wanna be able to pass emissions and not blow a code. If I extend the wiring is it possible to run a universal? Has anyone else done this or can give me any input?

If you have a cooper S there is already another catalytic converter

Yes, I know the primary one that is part of the down pipe and the secondary that is under the car. I want to know if anyone has relocated it because all the emissions sensors are connected to the primary one in the down pipe.

The secondary o2 sensor is just downstream of the cat, not in it. I don't know if relocating both will sidestep the code/emissions. I think the oem cat is where it is to be the most effective heat=good

Pretty sure it is set up so the first o2 sensor is NOT to monitor the cat, it monitors the mixture....it gives feedback to the ecu so the fuel trims can be adjust when not on WOT.
The second cat monitors the final cats health....
The intention of having the first cat is it "lights off" very fast, and dies a "pre-breakdown" of some compounds....helps extend the life of the second cat....
Many delete the first cat...it works for a bit, no codes. The warning is you MIGHT need to must replace the main cat BEFORE the warrenty for 10+ years is up....and the car COULD fail a visual inspection....
The wire length on o2 sensors are VERY important....that's why "universal" sensors where you splice on an end are failing from favor....a longer wire changes the impedance so the readings from the sensor might be off...so folks get codes....that's why "exact fit" replacements are becoming so common...
And MINI 's tend to eat aftermarket cats....so watch out...most "high flow Universal's" tend to fail quickly.

what is the reason why you want to get a catless downpipe in the first place?

because just relocating the cat may be redundant. you might be better off getting a tune and have the tuner eliminate the CEL for the catless downpipe, but that depends on what state you are in.
