Hi there.

Do we know who makes the airbag modules for Mini's (and in my case, the R56 from the 2008 era)? Given the recent announcement that they may over double the size of the Takata recall, I'm wondering if Mini's might be on the hit list like so many other BMW's already on the list.

Here's the back story. My car is a 2015 RDX, and my wife's is a 2012 TL SH-AWD - both Acuras - and both effected by the Takata driver's side airbag inflator recall. I figure the risk is relatively low since the cars are relatively new and we live in the New England area, which is by no means the level of heat and/or humidity that tend to cause the ignitor issues. We'll get ours replaced likely in the next couple of months when the parts arrive.

But the '08 Mini we have for our son came from the south - was shipped to a dealer in Arizona and then lived in Texas for many years. Given its age and where it lived during its early years, it's at much higher risk. So while I'm not jumping to any conclusions just yet, understand who makes the Mini airbags will give a bit of a preview of what might be coming.

Thanks. The recall info isn't out there yet for this latest Takata recall - but I had heard Takata as a supplier of Mini/BMW airbags - so just trying to do some sleuth work.

If anyone else has any info that'd be great.
