Considering a 2012 S Clubby, issues
Hi,
I am considering a 2012 S Clubby with 28k miles on it. I have a '12 Justa Clubby that I know has weak spots in the water pump/connet pipe/thermostat. I have read the forums here a long time and honestly my memory is not that great. Trying to remember what the weaknesses of the N18 S are (not N14), and if anything has changed with people having more miles on them. We have 55k on our Countryman S with no issues so I am encouraged.
1. Does it still look like N18 carbon build up is resolved?
2. Does it still look like the past timing chain issues are resolved?
3. Is the oil line to the turbo an issue on N18 (might be N14 only can't recall)?
4. Looks like HPFP is warranty to 120k miles and 10 years so no worry there
5. Looks like the aux water pump is getting replaced due to fire risk
6. Are the bizenon lights proving to be reliable?
Is there another issue(s) I should be aware of on the S compared to Justa?
Thanks!

It does seem that the N18 does not have the N14 timing chain/tension death rattle issues. The N18 doesn't have as bad of build up as the N14, but people are still reporting a clean up is necessary. The HPFP is still a concern with the N18. The extended warranty is for select N14 MINI's from 2007-2009 (info HERE). There have been some people that reported their dealers replaced N18 HPFP's under warranty even though MINI has claimed "they do not have HPFP issues." We have seen more than a few N18 HPFP issues on the forum.
