Had coils go bad at around 50k on a new motor (long story) and now a couple went out again within a year ... time for plugs

NGK website says all they make that fit are - NGK 90223 PLZKBR7B8DG
Stock specs (and quoted from a great article here) are - Beru 12ZR6SP03
Pelican Parts lists (above links) - Bosch ZQR8SI302 and a slightly different Beru 12ZR6SP2

HALP!
For your R56 Justa you'll want Beru 12 ZR-6 SP2 or Bosch ZQR-8-SI-302 here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg1.htm#item0. If you want me to double check please shoot me a PM with the last 7 digits of your vin. Beru dropped the SP03 and went to the SP2. Went over this a little bit ago with a customer and confirmed that our catalog lists the plugs correctly for your R56 Justa.

Thanks for your replies!

I've found some NGK 90223's here locally and I think I'm going to give them a shot this afternoon. They seem to be compatible with the parts listed here. Any advice/warnings/info against them?

Additionally, when you check and adjust gaps (I've never done it), are you trying to match the gap listed on the plugs themselves, or is there a different gap specific to the car (not the plugs) that is supposed to be achieved? (and how do you do it?)

Thanks again.

Which spark plugs? Connected to carbon problem?

Need a recommendation on plugs. Have a 2007 Mini Cooper S with turbo. auto. 88,000 miles. All stock. Has had some engine work done by the local Mini dealer. Has had the carbon problem a few times which was solved with the walnut blasting. So:

- What plug should I use?
- Is NGK the stock plug?
- Does the choice of plug make a difference regarding the carbon buildup?
- What should the gap be?
- What is the socket called that goes with the 12 point spark plug? Bi-hex? It is a 14 mm correct?

I would stick with what is recommended from factory. Yes, the NGK is the OEM Supplier plug. This means it is the current or a past supplier of original equipment for a particular part number. I believe they're pregapped, no adjustment needed. The Spark Plug Socket is a 14 mm, 12-Point Thin Walled - 3/8" Drive. You can get an oil catch can to help reduce carbon build up, but just about every 50k miles these direct injection engines will need to be cleaned up. I linked our article below with more info on that.

Plugs: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg1.htm#item0
Socket: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg1.htm#item4
Carbon build up article: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...n_Cleaning.htm

If you have anymore spark plug questions feel free to leave a comment on the article, that I mentioned for the above user. I am also just a PM away if you have any questions.

Pelican Parts - thanks. I ordered the spark plugs and was able to find the socket locally. Do you have any info on the "oil catch can"? Is this something I can install myself? How much?

Thanks for the order. Yes, here is the oil catch can info you'll want: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...an_Install.htm. It also has a step by step guide that can help you with the install. We installed the M7 OCC on our R56. It is here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...pg5.htm#item14. Let me know if you have any questions.
