Water pump stopping/starting

Hey all, new issue started this evening. I just came home from maybe 30 min. or so of "spirited" driving as they say on NAM, and my water pump is running as it usually does cooling down the turbo and doing it's this. One exception to it's normal operation is... it's starting and stopping over and over instead of just running straight through until shut down. My question is, it this normal or does this mean my water pump needs to be replaced...?

This car is really starting to get on my nerves with all it's little problems. I can't believe all the problems that come up on these cars, it really shouldn't even be legal to sell these cars to the general public and then charge people for fixing them. That's like charging someone for two cars when they only receive one! All the cabins clicks and squeaks and rubbing is annoying as well...

So anyway, the questions is do I need a new water pump... thank you...

My question is this..How can you tell the water pump is starting and stopping when its belt driven? If the pump does not run you would over heat.
I think your talking about the after/run pump? Right
If so they are like 35 bucks and pretty simple to change out.
Your nerves of all the little problems...Bro I could sit and tell you of all the same problems and issues with parts that go wrong or fail on all the Mini's the same parts all fail on each one. I had to change the 02 sensor,Mass air flow sensor, water pump, coolant feed line to the water pump, thermo housing twice, all this within 40,000 miles not to mention the airbag light on pass side problem, sensor change for the brake wear problem...on and on..my first and last mini..I should have done my research first, but thought would be a fun reliable car..So wrong...

It should run the whole time and then shut off after a minute or two after a hard run.

Ok, so it's definitely on it's way out then, because it's running for like 10 seconds intervals then shutting off, then another 10 seconds then stopping... and on and on...

Dude I hear you, I mean don't get me wrong, I had I bad day that day and was maybe a bit harsh... I love my car to death, it's so fun! But all these little problems are so unacceptable! Who makes a car like this? It's unheard of in 2015...

That being said, it's a blast to drive, it's quick on the backroads and sounds nice too! I just wish BMW had taken more control of the brand wayyyy earlier than.... like this year they just did lol.

Anyway, thank you, i'll get a pump and install it. The end.
