R56 OEM Xenon Wiring Harness Question

Is there a difference between the wiring in the wiring harnesses between the OEM Xenon's (not a retro-fit) and stock Halogen? I called the dealership and they had no idea. Most of the time I feel like they don't know anything about anything really.

Anyways, I have a set of Xenons off of a 2008 and trying to put it on my 2009. I was expecting the strobe effect but got thing. The only thing that works are the turn signals. I've looked al over the forums but cant find a clear answer so any help or guidance would be great.

As far as I know, if your car comes originally with halogens and you wanted to retrofit an OEM bi-xenon headlamps, it has to be programmed/coded at the dealer. There is a set from ECS tuning that is plug-n-play, it will work, headlights and turn signals, but will have the strobe effect like you mentioned, so a quick visit to dealer for programming will solve that. How I wish we have like what I use for my VW cars, a VAG-COM, that basically code features and functions as a full on diagnostic tool.

As kpg111 said if you want to install OEM Xenon from OEM Halogen your car needs to be coded (basically you need to add the VO to CAS and FRM). Additionally you need some changes too on the FRM connection so you will be using the shutter out (it is unused whit halogen system).

There is the Xenon retrofit kit here:

Its for 9/2009+ Gen 2 MINI R56-R59 and then flashed at the MINI Dealership.

Mfg Part# 63102347698 KT

For pre 9/2009 MINI Gen 2 people have to have it coded through a NCS Expert program ( third party ). Some indy shops can do that.
