09 mini cooper nons, trunk hatch handle not working. ..

Hi guys I have a 09 mini cooper nonS, my issue is the trunk handle is not opening .. but when I click the key fob to pop the trunk that opens it, just not when I squeeze the handle myself. So just wanted to know what that could be? Thanks

The button in the hatch can fail. There's a thread on here about replacing it. Not sure of the title, but a search should find it.

+1 and welcome to the club, haha. One of the first things I did to my car when I bought it used. You can purchase a new, unpainted one and pop your painted portion off the old one to reuse. Just take care not to break the tabs.

or you can get the chrome one to save the cost of painting it or hassle of transferring bits. I remember the price between primed and chrome weren't that much difference
