Has anyone installed the oem 6 disc changer in their Mini? I've been thinking about getting one and doing it, but wanted to see if anyone has gone down that road already.

Well, my aux input jack crapped out (part is on order) so I couldn't rig up my 8 track. My wife is a cd-a-phile so when we go on trips, she brings a stack of them.

 

CD sound quality is better--I take a stack when I go on trips too.

 

So the aux port replace did nothing to fix my issue (it still only plays the lower spectrum of sound - you can't hear vocals even after adjusting settings). So I contacted my Mini dealer to inquire how much it would cost just to have them put in the disc changer. The service manager told me there was no changer option for my car and the hidden cubby hole behind the hinged trim above the glove box was just a "bonus hidden glove box". I sent him the changer part number and my vin...wouldn't you know, that was an option and with parts, labor, and programming, it would be $1299 plus tax. I asked what would programming alone be (thinking I could snag one online a little cheaper)...programming is $350. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to get a cd holder and not use my iphone with the system.
