R56 Replacement mirror with 2 bolts (not 3)
Replacement mirror with 2 bolts (not 3)
I have now ordered two different side-view mirrors, both allegedly fitting my 2007 R56, and both having the wrong bolt pattern. My car has 2 hex nuts that hold the mirror to the car. The aftermarket replacements I've ordered both have 3.
I can't even seem to find any discussion about the fact that there are two different mounts. So when I ordered the first one, a Dorman 955-975, I was surprised to find it didn't work.
Next one I got was from amazon:
Amazon.com: TYC 8520041 Mini Cooper Passenger Side Non-Folding Power Heated Replacement Mirror: Automotive
This one actually has a question on the product page - is it 2 screws or 3? The seller answered 2. Great!
Just got it. 3 again. WTF?
Can anyone tell me what, exactly, I should order to replace this mirror so it will fit on my car? Do I really need to go to a MINI dealer and cough up for an OEM?
Thanks!

Just checked 'em out - they don't have the exterior mirrors listed for sale on their web site.
Found yet another one with info about the mount on Amazon:
Amazon.com: MINI COOPER 02-08 SIDE MIRROR RIGHT PASSENGER, POWER, HEATED, FOLDING, KOOL-VUE: Automotive
This also is a 3 screw mount. Seems remarkably difficult to find what I'm looking for!
Is this perhaps one of those situations where the design changed with the '07 generation II change, but maybe my car was an early model and got a prior-generation mounting?
Can anyone tell me if first generation minis have a 2 or 3 screw mount?

Amazon seems to have the MINI models and fits mixed up all the time.
We have them here:
Gen 2 , look for the power fold in and non powerfold in. Pick the one for the option you have. They have two bolts.
