R56 2007 S camshaft removal

I'm planning to have the cylinder resurfaced. I want to remove the cam shafts and from what I've read you have to be careful you don't bend the cams on removal. The camshaft removal tools I've seen for sale at $400 seems a bit steep.
Can anybody give me advice
Thanks

First, get the Bentley manual. It's great for sequence of parts removal, torque specs, and which bolts are NOT re-usable. On my rebuild, I removed the cams by loosening the cam caps slightly --- one at a time, to minimize the bending stress. Same process for putting it back together. Probably not the recommended practice, but it went back together and tuned just fine. I don't remember seeing a "camshaft removal tool" mentioned in Bentley's manual, just the timing and other special tools.

Head removal / installation is a labor intensive and costly process. Special tools, gasket sets, replacing parts you screw up, etc. Be sure you want / need to do this BEFORE starting.

Thanks oldbrokenwind the advice on the camshaft removal is what I curious about.
I didn't have much choice removing the head as water was in #3 cylinder.
Yes it was a pain to remove and I can understand why the dealership wanted big bucks for this job.
