R56 Retrofit with F56 style headlight
Took some pics and took out for a drive tonight.
Output level is definitely quite low. These aren't the HIDs.
I still have to do the leveling, I'll post some pictures tomorrow.
Now that the initial excitement has worn off, I'm moderately satisfied by the lights.
I believe they do come with canceler's, since no warning lights have come on.
Also, there is a gap between the hood and the lights, so not sure if that's a deal breaker for anybody.

I absolutely love your car and those lights make it look even better, love that paint!!
I cant wait to see how these look with halogen bulbs as thats what im sure I will wind up with
you might consider getting some LED headlight bulbs, they will have more light and put that light in the right place in the reflector of a halogen projector to avoid the hot spots you see with HID conversions in a halogen projector...
wish i had the money to get these for mine!!

How's the high beam function? Only flash to pass our do they stay on when you push the stalk forward?

Daylight pictures with DRL's on
Overall Review of headlights:
-The DRL's aren't as bright in the daylight as I had hoped for them to be.
-The output from the projector's is abysmal and unsafe, so if you decide to get these, please upgrade them with a better bulb.
-Hooking up to the Fog Lamps is great, because you get a really cool parking light effect, when you unlock the car. (Prereq: Headlights should be in the on position)
Total Cost for me:
$436 for lights
$110 for installation (can be avoided if you know how to solder and can diy the connection to the fog lamps)
---
$546 for a 5/10 product, does not seem super worth it to me in retrospect.

Those look much better than I expected, even with the unnecesary washer plugs, but the lower than stock halogen output and the "unfinished" wiring they come with sounds like a deal-breaker to me. I'm a big proponent of mods in the name of good looks, even when they don't increase performance, but if they Decrease performance, I have to draw the line. It's too bad really, since they do look so nice on the car.
Yeah that's too bad. I've given some thought to the LED foglights for DRLs. Those are OEM. As I recall they're about $1000 installed? Maybe? Maybe it's just me but I prefer the LOOK of the BiXenons on the car (mine are the blackouts). I don't know about the lighting up of the road, but they look great.
@spingq: Lower output definitely sucks and annoys me a lot, BUT I mostly drive during the daytime, and barely drive at night.
As far as "unfinished wiring" I guess Spyder decided to leave them like that so the owner could tap into the power source of his/her choosing.

I find it odd that ECS just started carrying those exact lights. Received an email either this morning or yesterday (fuzzy memory) advertising them.
Maybe the version ECS carries has better bulbs and fitment??

doubt it - most likely the exact same brand (Chinese OEM) makes all these new F56 style headlights now available through various American vendors. ECS stays on their game and tries to stock parts that are "trending" because (rightly so) people trust them more than many other vendors that currently sell these, so they are likely to capture the sales.
I'm sure I could deal with the lower output too, since I live in a pretty densely populated area, which means lots of street lights. If they were merely lower output than HID's than I'd be all for it, but driving a 2013 nicely equipped car with 20 year old halogen technology already bugs me enough. I'll say it again though, I really like the look of these - even moreso than MINI's OEM HID retrofit option. And the price sure is much better.
Hello all,
First time post to this forum, Just thought I would let everyone know this is a fun and easy diy project. I just installed these with Hids, tapped into drls for the eye-brows. I think this is the same as jaydeeps set up? As far as the gap with the hood, those four bolts can be slightly adjusted to eliminate that gap between hood and lights. Keep in mind this also throws off leveling so leveling on the projectors may need to be done after gap has been adjusted. Overall love the look of the headlights more on my R56 then the F56. Pics soon!

We have them here with lots of info and pics: Click through to see the cutoff and beam patterns. The DRL are bright, the ones we have. They fit the R58 and R59 models also.

We installed them and really like the looks both Halogen and Bi-Xenon version as they are very close to Factory design .

Welcome, we don't have pics on the street but I am running the Bi-Xenon and are great. Super clear and sharp cut off. The light spread seems very close to the Euro Factory head light pattern. On a clear night i had the ziza positions and the DRL only at a light and I could see whats around me at a stop light within a few feet alone ( Xenons off ) .

I`m driving an r56 with halogens (hate those lights) but i was thinking if it is possible to get these f56 headlights but the xenons headlights and then programming the car like if it was the 25w retrofit?
We have some people trying that with the halogen => xenon set up. Waiting to hear them contact us or post up if it worked.

good to hear somebody is trying already, i think in order to do that first need to buy the control modules for both HL and then the programming right? but i wonder which control modules, i`m guessing the ones on the 25w xenon HL
Okay this is the best I could do till I get my camera back...Attachment 112470. I have Xenon retrofitted into these headlights. Hi/low works without throwing any errors.
