Where do you keep your spare tire?

Hi,

I just (finally) ditched the runflats for Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires. The car feels incredible.

Now, I'm looking into various options in case I get a flat tire (besides Mini Roadside Assistance).

1) Slime kit + compressor
2) Tire plug kit + compressor
3) Spare tire (probably for long trips) + compressor

I'm thinking 2 and 3. That is, a tire plug kit, compressor, and buy a spare tire for long trips.

For those MCS owners who have a spare tire, where do you put it? Also, how do you secure it? I'm a bit concerned that in the event of an accident, the spare will just go flying around inside the car.

Your advice is much appreciated!

I have mine sitting behind the drivers seat. I've also 5'4 so I dont need the seat all the way back. Works perfect for me. Some people have a rear seat delete and then just strap the spare down to that.

I have a full spare silver steelie in 16x5 wrapped in 195/55-16 non-directional tire that fits snugly at the boot with the back seat up. The tires kit is placed neatly at the left side of the boot. I use a tire sealant by Slime that comes with an air compressor. Incidentally, I have the wheel/tire for sale... if you want to look at it, just to a search on the classified ad. Thanks - jg

What spare tire?

Another Pilot Sport user here, along with AAA.

I've had 1 flat in 40 years. I'm not sweating it.

But... I've got run flat snow tires for winter, just in case.

Thanks for the comments.

I also don't like the idea of carrying a spare! My concern is only on long trips. I have Mini Road Assistance as well as road assistance provided by my insurance company. I guess I will carry a tire repair kit, slime and compressor, and hope for the best .
