2007 Mini S Rough Idle and stalling & few other questions
Hello,
First thanks for your time.
2007 Mini S R56 127000 miles I'm the second owner.
I start the car right up just fine... idles great for around 1 minute then starts to choke down and sometimes it will stall some times it will just sound like it will stall out but does not.
If it stalls I start it up and it is at the rough idle. I let it set for a while 15 min or so then start it up it idles fine again for about 1 minute then starts to stall out.
Driving it it drives with no problems seems to have full power runs smooth. I go to stop and it wants to stall or it does stall. Start it right back up and take off runs great while driving.
After about 8 to 10 min of driving I stop and it idles fine can't even hear it running... I almost think it has stalled because it runs so smooth and quite, and I'm used to it running rough.
I only run premium gas (not sure the owner before me did) I added some seafoam to the gas tank and did a 5 oz in valve cover hose I seen on youtube. I got NO white smoke at all.
note: I did changed the spark plugs.
I get a misfire code but NEVER has been blinking. Does not seem that bad of a misfire no power loss or blinking check engine light. I had a car that misfire and the check engine light was blinking loss of power runs really slow no power, I kinda know what that feels like.
I had it check out at local shop and they want to try this try that but can't point out one thing they just want to replace one thing at a time till they find the real problem... I can't afford the mini dealer prices.
Second problem
I check the oil before I start driving it is full. I drive the car around then pull in the gas station turn off the car check the oil and no oil seems to be on the dip stick at all. It freaks me out I get home let the car stand for some time go check the oil and it is full.
I was told mini like to eat oil and check it often but how can you check it at the gas station if it shows no oil on the dip stick.
How long does it take to get the oil back in the pan to get a correct reading?
I can respond to questions if you have any.. if I missed any thing.
again thanks for your time in helping me out.
Rich

No way, it's impossible for your oil to be full and then be empty after driving it, that's impossible you must be reading the dipstick incorrectly. OEM coil type dipstick is a pain in the *** to read reliably, it's no wonder you're having trouble. The oil thins out as if get hot and if your oil is relatively clean it will be difficult to read, do what most have already done, buy the Craven dipstick. You'll be glad you did, soo much easier to read!
