Pre-tune tune up

I'm getting tuned in about a month or so once the tax return comes in
Just wondering how to get the most out of the tune. I'm planning on doing a walnut blast on the intake valves, but are there any other things I can do? Oil change? Spark plugs?
Thanks!

All of the things you have listed are good ideas. Add an air filter or a cleaning if it is aftermarket & washable. I would also check with your tuner as to what heat range spark plugs he recommends. No sense spending money on new oem heat range plugs only to be told you need a step colder.

Actually just cleaned and oiled my intake yesterday with the "heat wave" that hit New England it was 50 degrees out haha
Good point about the colder plugs did not even think of that I will have to contact him
Thanks for the reply!

If I am reading this correctly and you are using an oil filter, I would recommend changing to a dry filter. The oil can mess up the Mass Air flow sensor. If that shorts out it puts the vehicle in limp mode. Limp mode sucks. Dry panel filters are widely available.

I'm using the k&n intake system with the k&n cleaning kit.. I have used it for 2 years with no issues and I don't not oil the filter very heavily because I know it can cause problems with the MAF

As long as you're careful. It sounds like you're doing a good job

If one doesn't over-oil it isn't an issue. Sounds like the OP is doing it right.
