I didn't realize it was an engineering decision based on saving the bumper from paint creases. Then again, I personally wouldn't give them that much credit. It may just as well be to save a few extra pence on materials per unit.
If I can figure out a way to easily fill that gap, I just might. I'll take a better look when I eventually take the bumper off for future mods.

Im hoping (and expecting) the new engines in the F56 to be better than the engines in the R56 were...hopefully this is true. At least, after they work out any quirks the first year or two.
