As far as MINI including a button with no functionality try this one, my car has wiring and bulbs for rear fogs however with out a toggle switch and programing they are not active. So this is actually par for the course for MINI. FYI MINI is not a premium car, its only marketed that way. That said the car is great fun to drive just don't expect much else. I feel your pain.
I have voice command/ phone capability, I was just commiserating with the OP.
Alot of cars do this. Our Explorer doesn't have NAV and its a factory only programmable option even though the hardware is there. Sorry, don't need to spend 2k on something my phone does...

You probably could. Buy the JCW Carbon covers fro the steering wheel, and graft everything except the voice button too it. Shouldn't be too hard. As a bonus you would have the only one with carbon covers and multifunctions... I'll take a look at my spare multi function switches and wheel as see if it looks doable.

Then you don't have to look at a nonfunctioning button...lol

Then again I look at non used switches everyday. I NEVER use the fog lights, or the central lock, Or the big useless pie plate of a speedometer...

Yea? Thanks!

Well, I use the speedo to look at fuel and the radio.. Every now and then I glance at it..

As for central locks and fogs..

Left window up, central lock, right window up. ( get out of car). I have to mainly for the Clubman aspect of getting my kid out of the passenger side rear.

Fogs, now and then.. When needed.. Hard rain...
