N14 JCW OEM Airbox cone filter on N18 Engine

As far as the mounting screws not lining up when adding an N14 airbox upper housing to an N18 lower housing, has anyone replaced the bottom airbox housing (on an N18) with the N14 housing then added the "old" cone style gen2 JCW airbox.... I was told this works and has been done at WMW. I'm about the pull the plug on both a JCW intake (JCW AI PN: 13720429380) and the whole Intake muffler assembly housing (Intake Muffler PN: 13717577509) and see if it will fit on the N18 (Gen2 GP).... I have to get the whole stock N14 Air Intake to get the bottom housing part of the N14.... unless I find a used one

Any input or pictures would be great

This will be done on a Gen2 GP

I have a 2011, bought a JCW airbox with the cone filter and then sourced the bottom of an N14 airbox, fits with no problems at all, the sound is the same as with the stock box

Great, just the news I was looking for.

So you took the N14 OEM JCW air box (with the JCW Logo) , mounted it to an N14 stock bottom housing and it all bolted right up to your N18 brackets????

I'm not worried about the sound but I heard it will or should make a difference in the throttle response.

How did you find it as far as an improvement ???? Is it worth the change out????

Did you keep the paper cone filter od do the K&N or equivalent????
Thanks

Yes that's what I did. To tell you the truth I did not find much, if any difference, before that I was running a cone filter(apexi) with the airbox bottom. I could feel gains on the top end, but a little heatsoak while starting to get the car moving. With the JCW box you get that lower power back, but you feel it lagging up top. I believe the biggest drawback of the JCW box is the paper filter, as when youre going full throttle it doesn't let enough air pass thru. I still have to change it to a cottom type filter to see what the differences will be.
