R56 Fault Codes and Throttle Body
Fault Codes and Throttle Body
First time poster, been stalking for the answer to this but to no avail.
I have a 2009 MCS 100% stock. I am just about to hit 50k miles and yesterday I got the yellow check engine light. Had AutoZone run the codes for me and it spit out P0120 and P0221. Both are related to the TPS (throttle position sensor) . I don't live near a dealer so that isn't an option at this point. The car seems to be running normally except for the code so I wanted to check my throttle body to see if there has been any wire corrosion/rubbing or if the body is just getting caked with grime.
Question 1: Where the hell is the throttle body on the N14 engine? I'm looking all over the place and I can't find it.
Question 2: How do I clear the check engine light, assuming I am able to solve the problem?
Question 3: Is this a common issue? Has anyone else successfully fixed this?
Thanks in advance

If you're getting throttle position sensor error codes, shouldn't you be looking into the throttle position sensor, i.e. the sensor that is attached to the accelerator pedal? Why are you looking into the throttle body?
Ah, that would explain it! You learn something every day.
when I was researching spraying seafoam into the engine to clear some carbon, I saw some videos on youtube where people spray it right into the throttle body.
Took some digging to realize our car's throttle body is very hard to get to on the bottom of the engine and not worth it...
