Cover engine part broken, what is it?

Looks like mi MINI is leaking oil somehwere around the engine block.
I haven't seen oil on the floor, so it's not leaking a lot, but the top engine plastic cover is full of it.

This small part seems to be broken, but I have no idea what it is and how can i get it replaced.

Does anyone knows how can I order this? and where?

Thanks,
TheH

Try ECS or Pelican Parts. Both are sponsors on NAM and excellent for OEM parts.

It is all part of the valve cover assembly and is not a replaceable part. If anything on the valve cover fails you replace the cover.

Now that particular item is a relief valve of some sort. It tends to spew as others have described "an oily mayonaise". Can't tell you when/why it does it, but that is what it is there for.

Is the only oily area you have around the top back side of the valve cover?

Make sure you check your oil level often to make sure you keep it topped off.

Basically the whole cover has oil, I don't really see where it's leaking and I don't see any drops on the floor, but the top cover looks oily.

I'm replacing the engine cover gasket and I guess now I need to replace the cover it self? I'm looking for it on ECS where I got gasket set.

Thanks,
TheH

Oh wow, the cover is $287, all it's broken is a plastic hinge on the relief valve that I have no clue how it broke since I've never even touch that thing..

Oh well..
