Thanks all for your advice and tips! Made the drive all the way from Houston to Atlanta without a hiccup. Everything was smooth until I hit Atlanta rush hour traffic yesterday afternoon. All in all, the MCS didn't once go out of breath or feel incapable.

The full run took 12 hours total (about 11.25 hrs drive time) with two stops for gas and one for lunch. Average MPG was 34.9 and I drove a few above the limit all the way through. The car used 1.75 tanks of fuel which I thought was awesome! Can't say the same for my 335i.

Just a word of advice for all, I noticed the greatest amount of troopers all the way through Alabama. What's up with that???

My longest single day drive to date. Awesome car!!

Made a fort Worth to south Carolina drive once and I got a ticket in Alabama. Damn trooper singled me out of a pack of about 10 cars going 90. Guess the out of state plates did me in...

Just did PHX to Seattle (1500) miles non-stop solo in 19 hours. GPS Mapquest said it woudl be 24 to 25 hours. I picked a secluded route through the center of NV and OR all on 2 lane roads. It was also the most direct route. I thought I made excellent time and not sure how to shvae more time. My Maserati would be to loud slowing down the passing and in traffic. No one is eager to call in that a MINI jsut blew there doors off.
I did the same trip last weekend in a rented MINI Van with the wife and 2 cats. Top speed and cruising speeds were more limited and it took 20.5 hours. Not bad for MINI Van. Did 3 trips this year and no tickets.

Saw the Blue Ferrari Daytona Dan Gurnie won the first Sea to Sea (Gumball Rally) race in yesterday. They averaged 81 MPH over 36 hours going coast to coast including gas stops and 1 ticket. My average was about the same in the same in the MINI but about 900 miles shorter.

Valdosta GA to Denton TX around 1967 in a '62 TR Spitfire. About 1000 miles in around 15 hours. Old age and wisdom trumps youth and enthusiasm. Won't do that ever again.

Wichita, Kansas straight thru to Pennsylvania. Stopped only for gas and food on the run. 1200 miles in 19 hours.

Was young and not as smart.

Would not consider driving more than about 10-11 hours a day now.

Longest I've driven is Los Angeles to Ft Worth. Took over 24 hours straight with a water pump replacement thrown in there. 1400+ miles with my wife and 6 month old son. Definitely wouldn't do that again.

I'm sure ayeboy completed the trip already but my best long haul advice is rock n roll, ginger ale and finger food snacks that are more savory than sweet. Leave at o'dark thirty in the morning and when the sun comes up you get a big energy boost and maybe an awesome sunrise. When nature's call is too loud to ignore, stop at the rest stop, do a quick walk around, splash some water on your face and get right back on the road. Motel 6 and Super 8 are your friend because all you need is a bed and they usually allow dogs I've done I-5 Portland, OR to San Diego and back just the hound and I many times (first time in my MINI last week) as well as cross country. The run flats are a harsh ride but I think my car "liked" going at speed for extended periods unlike others I've had that seemed to put up with it at best.
