HOW much did you pay for JCW brake kit?

And I mean part #34110432802

I see them listed anywhere between 1800-2250 on different sites. I was looking at aftermarket companies like wilwood and brembo but since brembo makes these and I'll retain my waranty this seems to be the best product for the money. You guys who bought a set did you have to have the dealer install them to keep your warranty or could you do it yourself or have it done at another shop?

I fanatically disagree that the JCW big brake kit is the best value for the price. It looks cool and that's about it.

The Wilwood is the way to go. Absolutely huge company so you always have great aftermarket support, cheap parts, and plenty of pad choices. Long term cost is one of the biggest concerns with the JCW kit. You're going to be paying out the 8ss for rotors or replacement parts for the calipers when needed.

TCE Performance makes a kit for the MINI and the Plus 3 and Plus 4 kits can be had for $1000-1400. These kits will take severe track abuse since they don't have rubber booted pistons like the JCW kit does. Heck, if you're not going to push the brake kit on the track all the time, the larger rotors on the Wilwood kits look way better than the JCW kit.

I have to agree with countryboyshane on this one. Wilwood is the best solution for an upgrade or add-on in replacing the stock MCS brakes. That's the way I am going next I need brakes, now that I have graduated from the "free maintenace".

Speaking of "free maintenance", I had a bulb out indicator on my MCS and couldn't find the one that wasn't working, so I took it into MINI of Louisville yesterday. My SA was very nice and looked through my records and noticed I hadn't had my wipers replaced so she offered to do them under the "free maintenance" program, that is until she realized I had 36,005 miles on my car. Then it was oops, your over the 36,000 mile free maintenance limit. "I'll check with the Service Manager and see if we can still do it. Sorry, he says that is controlled by MINI and we can't make an exception." Really? I guess the next time I am in the market for a new car, I'll have to pass because it's $5 or $10 more than I want to spend. Way to go MINI or MINI of Louisville - that's the way to show good will to your existing customers!
