Brand new (200mi) justa pulsing in 1st gear

I received my justa yesterday and have been driving it as instructed in the breakin guide lines.

When doing 5-15 in 1st (at a constant speed), the power surges/pulses somewhat. Is this normal? I'm heading on a 500mi road trip tomorrow and want to make sure it's fine. Is it from not being broken in yet? Or should I have my dealer take a look?

I feel that my JCW does that too but only when I'm accelerating...

Just vary your speeds and rpms for break-in....and avoid higher rpms ....longer trips are fine in a new car ...but just do not use the cruise control for the first few hundred miles on the highway IMO.

My 2011 MINI with almost 20,000 miles has done what you describe since new. This only occurs in first gear and when the least amount of power is required. When very little power is required, the slightest movement of the gas pedal changes the speed noticeably. In second gear, my MINI will hold a constant 20 to 25 MPH without surging. Enjoy your new MINI, you don't have anything to worry about.

Sounds to me like you are not giving it enough gas and is about to die. Good luck

My 2012 Justa has done something similar since I bought it. After a cold start in the morning, it will "shudder" or "pulse" under light/idle throttle (like your 5-15 MPH). After it has warmed up, the "shudder" goes away.

Just wanted to add...
First gear in a stick is GENERALLY only used to get the car moving...or to creep in traffic....if you are going 15 mph in 1st during break in.. Maybe you should have upshifted?
