R56 hazy lights
hazy lights
Hi all,
I've got a 09 Cooper S with halogen lamps on it. I've fitted Philips xtreme power bulbs a few months ago. Recently, I've taken a closer look to both of my headlight assembly and the inner top bit of the lens goes quite hazy. The car is kept in a garage most of the time. Why it goes hazy and how could I get rid of them? Should I change the bulbs to prevent further hazing?
PS: Its a certified pre owned mini, can I replace the lights under warranty?
Thanks...

Once out of the factory warranty and into CPO I think it doesn't cover quite as much. More mechanical things, not sure about headlights. But this hazing it typical now of cars and the oxidation is not uncommon to occur within 4 years. This would be an environmental cause and not covered under warranty (even the original 4yr 50k I believe). If it effects light output you can get a shop to buff it out but it will happen again a a couple of years.
Sorry to be a Debbie downer but it's not the headlights (unless they are like 100w each, not the standard 55/65w) and it's not a MINI thing, just a sign of the times.
