The wife scratched the drivers side mirror cap-cover on our 09 S hardtop with the power fold option. Are the power fold mirror caps different than the standard mirror caps? I've found some on ebay but the seller can not confirm if the will fit the power fold mirror. You would think that one could buy a black cover from the dealer, fairly common color for cars with black roof, but no. I've been told by my dealer that I must buy a primed cap and have it painted. When I do get an replacement can anyone tell me how to remove and install the new cap?

 

The power fold mirrors are different from the non power folding. Be patient, they show up. As far as the replacing, it's extremely simple. You need to find something sharp and plastic, like a spatula. On the driver's side, you just need to wedge it towards the far right top edge (towards the window) and pry it apart.

If you don't want to buy the primed one and have them painted you could go to the black jack design. It will match your black theme pretty well and looks good with a black roof top.

Thank you for the video and pics. Looks really easy to remove. I'll have to keep looking for a used one or have the dealer paint a new one.
