Oil to use in non-street motoring days

Hello,

Not sure if the Auto-X side might be better for this, but I'm curious if you use different oils on the days you take your MINI (particularly of the N14 variants) out for a track day or for Auto-X. Since oils in the MINI aren't exactly normal and store bought, I'm not sure what the options are for the days when you're running the car harder.

Thanks!

I've always use the same oil. I just make sure it's fresh before hand and have it changed shorty after.

The MINI oil from the MINI dealer. And the MINI oil filter. Around here it is the same price as the stores. At the track, check it often and make sure it is absolutely full (not over) all of the time, that way you don't have any starvation issues.

+1 on being fresh before going out.

You're not going to wreak havoc on your oil doing an Auto-X day considering how much time you're at wide open throttle. Probably four 60 second sessions during the day, and even then you're not really on it as much as you are trying to be very smooth with the brakes & accelerator. A weekend at the track is a different story. You can potentially put in 6 x 20 minute sessions each day and that's a lot of thermal stress on oil.

Stick with Royal Purple, AMSoil, Mobil 1, or whatever fanboy synthetic you'd like. There is not much performance benefit for the gentlemen racer stepping up to lets say a Royal Purple XPR unless you race religiously.
