I can't comment on Aisin equipped MINIs specifically, but traditionally manufacturers specify between 80,000-100,000 miles to exchange transmission fluid. If you're in the mood to change it now you're certainly not going to hurt anything.

There are a lot of threads on this. I am currently working out a "new" method.
You should get the tool www.nxtools.com I think I do not have it bookmarked here.
I did not have good luck filling from the top, but it is easy from the bottom.
I did not get enough in it this past weekend. So tonight instead of jacking it up (a major pita) I am going to take the tire off and see if I can go from there.

FIRST POST! I've actually been wondering thing. I have a 6-speed auto with 52,000 miles and think the shifts could be smoother. Any thoughts? Cost from mini to do a filter/flush??

my friend owns a transmission shop

he overhauls both manuals and automatics

he says ALL transmissions should have fluid changes every 30,000 miles

my 1997 gmc sonoma manual has 288,000 miles, has had fluid changes every 30,000 (including the front and rear differentials and transfer case) and i have had zero problems ... it still shifts as good as new

i will be doing the same on my cms all4

oil is much cheaper than transmission work

I am changing out the pan fluid every 10k miles (since I hit 50k), so basically every oil change).
