Mini newb here ! 1st mini inside!

hey guys,

first of all i would like to say that this forum is really helpful, ive been lurking and reading about my R56 for months! finally got mine yesterday!

i absolutely love it! but there are a few things i'd like to ask or even if you guys can help in socal i'll be super appreciate it.

1. i'm going to do something about the chrome HL/TL upper/lower grill, i bought a roll of 3m CF and thought about wrapping them but then i saw more and more people using plasti-dip. which one would u guys prefer really?

2. HIDs, i kept reading pros and cons about it but i can't stand the halogen bulbs look. thinking about doing 6000k on bi-xenon and 6000k on my fogs.

3. loving the turbo sound! i just want to make it much louder but not "rice" this is an automatic and i got quoted for 500 plus dollars for upper pipe and bov! thats just crazy! i can't find a good enough answer for my automatic mini s, so please help on this one.

4.bluetooth and iphone/ipod, i don't think my car has bluetooth because although it does have the steering wheel buttons but i know that doesn't necessarily mean i have bluetooth, are there any good aftermarket bluetooth that will work with oem radio? aux cable?

5. i think thats pretty much sums all of my concerns as of right now but if you guys have any suggestion about what this mini can do please let me know, this car is a daily driven car with 20k miles 09' and i plan on staying completely stock ( other than intake to make the turbo sound louder ) no suspension/ wheels / tints or anything else is needed as of this moment.

thanks you guys in advance i really do appreciate it!!!

-MS

It's really a split; some like dip more than vinyl.
Personally, I'm a vinyl guy as it's more smooth and doesn't flake off if the prep was poorly done.

Are you planning on swapping for OEM headlights? If so, you will need to program the car to accept them.
Otherwise you'll have power issues and a bulb-out warning lights on the instrument cluster.

What "upper pipe" are you referring too?
Also reconsider a BOV as the engine is designed for a closed-loop boost system where the unused air is redirected into the intake.

Look into a good preventative maintenance regiment that includes frequent oil changes with a LL-01 approved oil.
Also do consider some of the precautionary items to help offset carbon build-up on the backside of the intake valves due to a direct-injection engine.
Those would include an oil catch-can or a water-methanol spray system.

Buy HID rated project housings and install those using the standard incadescent wiring to power the ballast.
But DO NOT but a HID lamp into a standard housing, the glare and lack of beam cut-off hurts / blinds oncoming traffic.
