Engine oil

I've bought a 2007 mcs back on february with 16,000km on it. The dealer changed the oil for me. So my next oil change is at 26,000. The problem is last 2 month my car started to hesitate to accelerate like it has lost 25% of its power. When i took to my dealer he said the car was ok and there is still time for next maintenance as it was only 21,000 km at that time. Still i had the feeling its not the same when i first bought. Ysterday i went to one of my friends workshop and i was shocked that the oil level is lower then the minimum requirement. I've been using all this long with low level. So he top up it with some fully synthetic oil for the time being. After the oil change the car has been smooth as before.. My only concern is there any chance the engine might got damaged due to low level of engine oil? Thx in advance.

From Malaysia.

You should be checking your oil level regularly.

How much oil needed to be added? Did a low pressure oil light come on?

You need to check the oil regularly as said....
If the oil level was very low, the turbo might have been hurt (lack of oil to bearings or gummy oil fro getting so hot)....
some gen2 cars do also have issues with carbon buildup, resulting in power loss...
The car has direct injection....so adding fuel cleaners do not help. Physical cleaning of the intake vaves are usually needed. If caught early, some folks have been lucky with chemical cleaners that fog the motor, then let it sit, but once performance is an issue, the buildup needs physical cleaning....
