Are these typical issues?

As you can see, my overhead console looks like the carpet should be tucked around the black lip. Also, you can see some internals of the hidden compartment from the dash panel. Are these things typical problems or was this car tampered with before I bought it?

Looks like someone has had those areas apart and didnt quite put it all back together correctly....

that's what i figured, but I couldn't tell. There doesn't appear to be evidence of damage, it just doesn't look like others I've seen. It's stuff like this that drives me crazy!

Might be residual of radar detector installation and removal.

Yup the black piece should be tucked under the headliner - should be easy to fix. Like others said, possibly just a poor job or removing a radar detector install prior to selling as it appears you have a 2009 which is obviously not factory new.

Those clips visible on the upper glove box is normal.

the 2 rollers on the secret compartment is normal, but u can fix it. however you need to remove the bottom black trim, flex it a bit, which is kinda a pain

The glovebox part is hard to say, I have seen some customers MINIs that look like that and others I haven't, mine isn't like that. I have also seen it on new MINIs every once in a blue moon.
