R56 MCS owners wish you bought a JCW?
When I purchased in 2008, the JCW was in Chili Red, and for me, that's a deal breaker, ladies!
So, I'm building one in the Configurator now and notice:
- Lightning blue is back (I thought they retired it after '08)
- You can't get cloth seats in the JCW
- $500 for the Sport Suspension. I thought the JCW was the sport model.
- They offer rear parking distance control now. I think the MINI is the easiest car I've ever driven to know where the rear bumper is, since it's pretty much right out the rear window
Any way, I optioned it out the same basic way I optioned my MCS, and it came out to $32K. That's still too rich for my blood.

Do I regret?
Every day... Every day...
That being said, my budget bought what I have: a '12 MCS and I have more fun than I can describe!
Perhaps in a few decades, when Summons has been paid off, and I get a raise... Hmmm... I think I'll be in my MCS for a while yet!

I'll take an MCS any day over the JCWs. I test drove both last night (we're looking at upgrading my wife's MCS) and personally, I like the MCS better. Put on the aero body, the JCW suspension, the JCW engine tune and you're close to if not better than the JCW as bananamini said.
Of course, the MCS has a better compression rating than the JCW so if you put the JCW turbo on the MCS with an additional tune, you'll end up with higher HP and torque (as other's have noted, no personal experience here yet).

for those of you guys who went with the mcs, why not a used jcw? that's the question i'm looking at now, but i think the beefed up motor internals is what edges me to a used jcw
Just think of it like this,
Subaru WRX<STI
Mitsubishi Ralliart <Evo
Mini MCS< JCW
At the end of the day getting a MCS to a JCW level is going to cost a lot of $$$ (turbo upgrade $1700-$2300). Put that money in a JCW! I have a mini MCS and I LOVE it! I choose not to mod it ( to an extent
) because it just going to be so much money! But you can bet that my next car will be a JCW. Ohh and btw I'd much rather have a JCW then a 128i any day of the week!

I dont regret it at all. Firstly from a pure aesthetic point of view, I dont care for the JCW front and rear bumpers...prefer the standard MCS ones. Secondly, I have a "fast" car already...the Cooper is meant to be my sensible commuting car so I already pushed it by getting an S
I'll be back to test out this next generation of JCW coming out and see if my opinion changes. I'm sorta hoping that it does because I really want to get my wife a new Cooper and she's like me -- likes power and handling.
