I can't speak to the gains on an R56, however, I have a muffler delete on my '11 WRX, and it has been dyno'ed with +11ft/lbs gain at the wheels, from just that mod alone. I don't believe you will be seeing any HP gains, but the sound is absolutely delicious. I do know that my '05 SRT-4 came from the factory with only cats and resonators, no mufflers, and it sounded close to how my WRX sounds, except for the Subie rumble from the unequal length headers. I have been in contact with the guys who made the delete for my WRX, and we're discussing something similar for the R56. All handmade stainless, with multiple options. They get built when you order. Stellar customer service, and made in the USA. Very reasonable pricing too.
BULLIE! THanks! Thats the kinda info I hoped to get...
+11lbs on your WRX is awesome!
And yes, the sound is delicious! Lol
Keep us/me posted on any developments on your R56
Will do! They're production is slammed til June or so. I'm gonna talk to Jason again then, and see if I can get him to prototype me up a delete for the R56, when she arrives! lol I noticed that you mentioned a slight drone in yours after install. That, IMO, has more to do with the sound dynamics of the rear hatch area's design, than anything else. They ran into a similar problem with the straight deletes for the WRX hatches, too. You may want to explore Dynamat, or some other sound deadening material for the space above the exhaust, in the rear of the hatch. If you do, please post your perceptions.
There are some youtube vids of catless/resonator free setups and they sound like rally cars. Bet this would be similar sounding beast. I would be interested in something like this when I go stage 2+.
From my Sti days the sound comes from the firing order no?
Nah, UEL headers from the factory. Guys have put the EL headers on in search of more ponies, and got them, as well as ended up sounding like a Honduh in the process.

Unequal length headers give the Subbie good sound. Same with the Z/G from Nissan.
I decided not to take my exhaust off. I didn't have time to do it and I really didn't want the cops called on me.
For the record, I had a 2006 F250 Powerstroke that had NO cats, NO resonators and NO mufflers and the sound was incredible. At idle and cruising the sound was very nice and under WOT, the gates of hell opened with a melody that can only be described as orgasmic. I had thought briefly about doing what you did to my '09 JCW but may have to hear more examples before I decide. I think the cats and resonator should do a really good job of quieting this car down. Nice work.
I have to say its a mixture of both because the firing order fires both cylinders per head fractions of a sec. apart... damn do i miss the rumble.
