R56 New MINI for me
New MINI for me
I bought my 2006 MC new and put 109K on it. Sadly, it got totaled this week when I was rear-ended and pushed into another car. I am fine, but the MINI was toast. I really loved that car, and it was paid off (although I had just put on brand new tires 10 days before the accident). I had anticipated getting another 2-3 years out of it and then selling it, but alas it was not to be. I spent the past few days looking around, but in the end I am getting a new MC.
I was impressed with the test drive. Compared to my 2006, the 2012 is a much better car. Smoother ride, more power, less road noise. So I'm getting a bit excited. I wish I could have waited and done a custom order, but I really need to get a new car now. So I'm getting something that meets ~95% of what I wanted. I'm getting a little excited about the new car. For anyone who has gone from an older model to the new R56, will things like floor mats and the boot tray from the old one fit in the new one? Or will I need to do some accessory shopping?

You probably will need to get new.
I've got Cocomats and love them. http://www.cocomats.com/ My car is chili red and black, and I got the black mats with the red dots. It looks great in the car.
I also bought a set of Weather tech mats from McNeil. The fit isn't so good. The mat on the drivers side has no holddown provision and it slides around. I just haven't trimmed the front enough to not catch the clutch pedal. Maybe they sent mats for a auto? I tried heavy duty velco, but it doesn't really stick to the mat. (oh well)

Also you can try this place, I get all my stuff from them.

Thanks for the advice! Looks like I should try to sell my old accessories to fund some new ones. Another question for the veterans...I've been reading a bit about water pump and tensioner problems. Have those been fixed in the 2012 model? Do they even apply to the base Cooper or only the S? Sorry for the ignorance. I tried searching a bit but couldn't find a good answer, and I've been away from the boards for a while.
Thanks, caprisun! I can't wait for the new one to get here. Should be less than 2 weeks. In the mean time, I've got a rental that makes me feel like I'm driving a boat compared to the MINI!
