Best aftermarket intake?

after looking at intakes for the r56 i really like the intake that M7 has.

Ill be the first to say I dont wanna spend $700 on an intake

It seems to me that having an open cone filter in back of a hot motor just isnt efficient, am i wrong? It seems like the cone filter would suck in hot air and be less efficient and not be able to produce max HP output.

So what type of intake are you guys/girls running and any pointers and tips would be great for buying a good intake without spending too much

Searchbutton Racing Technologies should be able to set you up!

Sorry, but I couldn't resist

I run the DDM Works race intake system with the functional ram air scoop. It's a nice alternative to the M7.

The intake he's reffering to is the RIS kit. It's pretty popular round these parts...

they also have a street intake which is a bit less expensive and just as good if your interested.

My son has the DOS (Defenders of Speed) intake on his 09 Clubman S and likes it quite a bit. It also seems popular on this forum. I don't have one - not really convinced yet that it makes any appreciable improvement in performance. I am fairly convinced the best upgrades are suspension related. Our cars are great in the twisties, and even better with upgraded springs, shocks, rear antiroll bar. That's just me though.

I give NM engineering credit for making good stuff AND for having the integrity to point out the '11 & '12 R56s do not need the additional tube and offer the required parts at a discount to the fully tubed kit.

Thanks for the replies guys, everyone makes a cool intake, although i do think the DOS one is pretty sweet, any noticable power increase?
