R56 Rear mud flap = ANGRY
The front mudflaps are useful but what do the rear ones do??? If it creates more air turbulence under the car then isn't the Boot going to get filthy quicker? Leads to the dreaded DBS (dirty boot syndrome).
I don't know about "air turbulence under the car", but my experience is they do help keep the rear end cleaner.
My dealer charged me $265 including parts for front and rear mudflaps. They seem to holding fine after 4 months. I think the MINIUSA site listed the mudflaps at $115 for the parts. So I paid ~$150 for installation. Since I am not a hands on guy most likely for the best.
I have an experiment going on now. I have 2 identically shaped MINI's, an '09 and a '011. I had to remove the flaps from the rear of one of them to do some work and I opted to leave them off to see if one MINI gets dirtier quicker than the other. So, now it is just wait to see
I agree; after about a week, I removed the rear flaps and just kept the fronts. The rears are not as secure and don't fit as well anyway.
