R56 Water Pump Change Help

I'm in the process of replacing the water pump on a R56 and the only step I'm having a problem with is removing the turbo tube off the intercooler. I've loosened the clamp all the way but can't get the tube to budge off the fitting. I need to remove the tubes to get to the motor mount. Just getting the damn T25 screw off the radiator supporting the tube assembly was a major pita. I needed to use a T25 bit with particularly thin spokes to fit, and only the smallest of a 1/4" ratchet fits even after removing the A/C charge tube support bracket in the way.

Thanks for any help!

You need to pry around it. I believe there is a glue or something on the fitting.

I just replaced my water pump a few weeks ago without removing the plastic portion of the tube as I didn't want to remove the torx screw. I removed the part that goes from that plastic piece to the throttle body and there was enough play in the plastic tube to remove the mount.

I have that joint separated but man I feel uncomfortable just bending the tube. I'll give it another go though since you say it worked for you, and you didn't even have to undo the torx.

Thanks

That was the right answer - and it's even the actual procedure! The tube actually has moldings for the socket extension to get to the mount bolts No need to remove it at all, although I REALLY think removing the T25 bit is supposed to happen - you really have to torque it around a bit and stressing that small flange is not something I would suggest.

Thank you VERY much 08Dark!

I think I might do a how-to video for this, since it's not documented at all yet for an R56. I know there's a non-turbo version with some of the details here, but it's missing a lot of actual steps.

I now have the engine up, looking up how to slack the belt now, then I can replace the pump!
