Carbon Buildup

Has anyone experieneced this? A couple weeks ago my engine check light came on my 2009 Cooper S. The car is now at dealership. The diagnosis is carbon buildup in cyls 1 and 2. They are cleaning the intake manifold (intake seems like a strange diagnosis). Also oil consumption is 2-3 qts between the recommended oil changes (~20,000 miles). Also very black exhaust pipes. Could this be related?

Pleeeeeease do not follow the oil change interval for starters....

And 2nd, carbon buildup is one of the most common problems with the R56. Take some time to read the forum....there is hours of information about it.

As Thumper said, there are quite a few threads already that discuss the symptoms, causes, and a few different remedies.

Here's a fairly recent one: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...lues-help.html

I know that the search function on this site is a little sub-optimal. I always use google since this site is *super* search engine optimized. Just type in your search words and then site:northamericanmotoring.com at the end.
