Is there a way to disable the headlight sprayers?
Just wondering if there is a way to completely disable the headlamp washers on a 2011 MCS. I am sick of my bonnet stripes and hood being speckled with washer fluid just cause I need to clean some dead bugs off my windshield.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Yup, headlights off. Or, what I do 90% of the time, I toggle the spray for about .5 seconds, to right before the wipers activate themselves, and i just give it a few (maybe 3 or 4) half second squirts which coats the windshield well, then I hit the wiper stalk down to activate it to wipe, repeat as necessary.
The first time using them after cleaning the car (a few days later), I will activate them in such a way to avoid streaking on my driver window from blowby and the roof: I just touch the wash toggle for a split second, just to wet the windshield, then activate the wipers just so it has enough lube to get it going (insert joke here), then as the wiper reaches the end of its upwards rotation (opposite of where they sit), I spray the sprayer for .5 seconds before they start coming back down. Restart wipers and repeat as necessary. THIS way, the wiper will always wipe the fluid DOWNWARDS into the cowl, away from the top of the windshield. This way I don't get streaks across my side driver window etc and on my roof.
It sounds CRAZY, I know, but it becomes MINDLESS after you get the hang of it. Its like playing notes on a piano or typing on a keyboard, the motions just become second nature and you know what to hit when.
This also avoids my headlight washers from activating. I don't like the headlight washers at night because it looks like i'm flashing my hi beams at the guy in front of me cuz the nozzle dims the headlights so much with the spray.
