Two Programmable Questions.

Question 1: Can the MINI S be programmed to automatically turn on Sport mode as you turn on the engine?

I use sport mode most of the time, unless the road is rocky and I need the car to absorb the bumps more.

Question 2: How do you program the auto-lock feature, to where the car automatically locks when you reach 10mph?

I know this to be possible - I'm just unaware on how to program it.

1) Yes if you have a tune like Alta sells (accessport) They can program stuff like that. Not only is my sport mode on automatically, I have super linear throttle programmed at all rpms. Pushing the sport mode on my car tightens up the steering only.

2) Push the end of your turnsignal stalk until you get to settings. Once in settings, you can choose what doors lock, when, etc, etc.

If you have your owner’s manual, check it out or read one online but it will tell you how to exactly program it.

HTH’s,

Mark

I do not think that sport mode has anything to do with the bumps and suspension, only the accelerator and steering sensitivity.

I use the FES auto sport mode circuit to turn on the sport mode automatically.

I know for a fact that the sport mode makes the suspension stiffer, eliminating body roll.

Sorry, didn’t read the part he mentioned bumpy roads... slinger is correct. Sport mode only adjusts the steering (ie. changing the lock to lock from 4 1/2 turns to 2 3/4) and the “hardness” on how it turns.

I forgot, FES sells a programmable piece of hardware that allows that. I think it’s FES that also sells the auto up window controller.

BTW.... as far as programming the locks.

Automatic locking
You can also set the situations in which the car
locks. The setting is stored for the remote control
in use.

1. Switch on the ignition, refer to page 44.
2. Briefly press the button in the turn signal
lever repeatedly until "SET/INFO" is displayed.
3. Press and hold the button until the display
changes.
4. Briefly press the button repeatedly until the
symbol and "SET" are displayed.
5. Press and hold the button until the display
changes.
6. Briefly press the button repeatedly until the
display shows the illustrated symbol, arrow.
7. Press and hold the button until the display
changes.
8. Briefly press the button to select:
>
The central locking system automatically
locks the vehicle after some time if no
door has been opened.
>
The central locking system automatically
locks the vehicle as soon as you drive off.
>
The central locking system automatically
locks the vehicle after some time if no
door has been opened, or as soon as you
drive off.
>
The central locking system remains
unlocked.
9. Press and hold the button until the display
changes. The setting is stored.

Taken from page 23 from the online owner’s manual from the owner’s lounge on the mini website.

Thanks so much Orangecrush! I think i'm going to have to wait until tomorrow before I refer to this, though. It's late now, and i'll be sure to do it tomorrow. I'm having problems with the engine though, I'm gonna have to ask around to find out what it is.

nope

if you still doubt it, look under the car .... there are no magic control lines, electric or hydraulic leading to the corners .... hence no mechanics to do anything to the suspension . . ..

the sport button sends a signal to the computer which can alter functions controlled by the computer .... in this case the throttle map cuz we're drive by wire, and the electric power steering map.

In theory sport could alter the ABS/ASC/DSC functions but I'm not aware of any potential advange to this and there is a sep' button to disable ASC/DSC
