I had them on the 08 and I used them as a defense mechanism, at night when people would tailgate or come up on me fast, id flash them... believe it or not it would most likely make them freak out and let up off my boot but other than that I did not use them

Im still looking for a way to enable it on the 2011's.

Let us know if you find out how. It's kind of lame to have them there and connected but with no way to turn them on.

I ordered the rear fogs on my soon-to-be 2012 MCS without knowing much about them, just because they were cheap.

Not to hijack the thread, but I do have a question regarding the toggle switches in the console as well as near the rear-view mirror. Anyone have a description of what each switch is for? I'm having a bugger of a time finding a place online with an accurate description of what they are all for.
Thanks all!
Jon

Well when you get the car you will see little icons of what each one does above the toggle. Just from memory I think the ones by the mirror control the map reading lights and the mood lighting colors and speed of change. The toggles by the console control windows, rear fog, front fog, door and trunk lock.

Ah, cool, thanks for your help Automan!!
Alot of the pictures I could find didn't show enough close up detail
to make out each individual icon. I think I should have most of them
filled, unless one is for heated seats which I did not opt for.
Thanks again!
Jon

Heated seats will be butttons on the extreme ends of the toggle switches. You shouldnt have any open toggles or anything like that except, on my car its by the mirror theres one thats open but I believe thats for a sunroof which I dont have.

Lol, I was just reading another thread and I wonder if the low beams werent on as it says the low beams must be on before the reverse fogs can come on. It was daytime so I doubt the lights were on.

There are quite a few extensive threads on adding the rear fog lights for older models on NAM.
In all cases it requires a trip to a dealer to have the fogs programmed into the system. If I remember right some dealers could not figure out how to do the programming or just refused to do it.

Depending on the build date some may or may not have the wiring in place. My '10 Clubman does not have the option but the wiring and even the bulbs are present.

hey,
I know this is an old thread, however I was searching for some answers on fog lights. I recently had an indicator light go on, showing the light bulb with a question mark in it. when I looked in the owners manual it said one of the exterior light is out. I have checked all the lights and they all work. I have fog lights however do not have toggle to make them work. one of them has a broken lens and maybe bulb. would that show on my indicator panel even if the lights can not be turned on?

My rear fog lights got me pulled over by a NY state trooper a couple years ago! He asked me several times if they were aftermarket units -- expecting a different result each time? ;-) -- and didn't really seem satisfied with my answer that they were a $100 factory option. He was actually pleasant, though, and let me go after a few minutes.

Look inside, do you see any bulbs in there? I'd also check your license plate bulbs. I have seen more than a few times of those causing an intermittent issue and triggering a bulb out indicator. Give them a little tap to see if they flicker or turn off.

Don't use rear fogs lights in good weather

I followed some Bozo for a while that had them on in clear weather. They (just one actually, as I recall) are very bright and really annoying to anyone behind you when it is not foggy.

When I was living in the UK 30 years ago it was illegal to have the rear fog lights on in good weather. They can be dazzling. But when that London fog rolled in they were great.
