I recommend strongly that you see an Ice Blue car in person before ordering one. Ice Blue is not for everyone. You don't want to make an expensive mistake.

There is one way to order a Chili Red and still be unique. You can order your Chili Red with the 2011 factory MINI Tatoo--Glorious. It is factory applied graphics with a British theme. It looks especially good on a Clubman because the British flag wraps around the back of the car from the side to the boot. I have not seen any pictures of the MINI Tatoo here on NAM. Chili Red with Tatoo was one of two configurations I had going into the dealership. I ordered Ice Blue in the end because I have a red car since 2003, and I wanted a different color. Good luck with your order.

I first saw the Ice Blue on Motoringfile back in July when the new colors were introduced. I immediately fell in lust with this color.
I didn't see it in the wild until a couple months ago at Northwest MINI.
IMHO, Ice Blue shows its true beauty in person.

If you are a fan of retro colors, Ice Blue may be for you. It lends a very art deco look to the iconic MINI design, and it is stunning with the black roof, cloth checked seats, and a black color line.

I loved Ice Blue so much that I ordered an Ice Blue MCSa last Thursday!

Ice Blue would also look really cool with cherry red accents. Or Black Jack would be cool as well.
I just got my Horizon Blue 3 weeks ago, but I still would love to get an Ice Blue one day, maybe for my daughter....

Congratulations on your order! You hit the nail on the head when described Ice Blue as art deco. Like someone said here, the color changes as the light conditions change.

You are sly, Annette! For your daughter...

I also just love the Horizon Blue. It is my next favorite.

I think an Ice Blue parked alongside my Horizon Blue/Black MCS and my husband's Cosmic Blue/Black CMS would be the cherry on top!
Hmm, wonder how the Ice Blue/Black would look with magenta accents (my daughter would really get psyched about some pink)?

It may not be considered a "manly" color, but then again, neither is Yellow or, for that matter, MINIs in general.

Agreed... If you're not sure, go see one in person. FWIW, here are a couple pictures I took this week:

It's only my opinion but I find the new Blue colors just absolutely hideous! They have no life! The only choices I'd go with would be Lightning Blue (discontinued), Laser Blue, True Blue seemed very nice, Black, Red, Gray, and I do like the orange with black roof.

Honestly, don't ask us which color to choose. It's something you're gonna live with, not us. Get something that pleases your eye the most!

@rereserved I have to disagree about ALL the blues being lifeless. The HB seems dull, until you see it in person, in the sun.

@Blaine, I disagree about the yellow comment, one of the most popular colors on Vettes, Porsches, Lambos, and Camaros is yellow. Those are all very heavily man-owned cars.

Allow me to elaborate more on my opinion of ice blue. It looks like a color that would be seen on a floral wall paper from the 70s. I dislike it.

I have owned a cabrio in lightning blue. See my gallery.
Also owned laser blue. Both were great colors in blue. Ice blue is also a nice color but you have to appreciate retro. At 59 years old, I appreciate retro. Old is new,and what is popular. Do you really expect Mini to release a production color without careful demographic research? They have done their homework and just because some folks won't like it, others will. Having owned a Porsche, yellow is one hot popular color, and while some may think of it as a taxi cab or girlie car, trust me it is one of the more popular colors. Turns out my Porsche and current Mini are both red. Still both popular colors, although not for everyone. Different strokes. My .02

I like Chili Red better although I am a little biased.
I think Chili Red with the red roof is very nice looking.
The red has a much deeper shine with some good detailing.
Almost hypnotic

We'll have to agree to disagree on yellow being a 'manly' color. Just because manly cars use the color doesn't make it a manly color. Case in point, some if the baddest, manliest cars ever built, the Mopar Muscle cars, came in Pantger Pink and Plum Crazy (purple).

Point is, buy whatever color you like best on your MINI whether it's a 'girly' color or not.

I guess it's all about how your eye is trained and what appeals to you. Saying IB is absolutely hideous is a bit strong. It is a very retro color, harkens back to the "mod" period when the classic Mini was in it's heyday. Personally I absolutely hate a certain color that many men love, but that doesn't mean I don't think the car should be available in that color for others who happen to enjoy it. IMHO, MINI has WAY too many blues, silvers and grey tones. I would love some other shades of green, but so far they're not taking my advice . I think you can take any color they offer and make it appealing in alternate ways. For example, there are quite a few cars on this site in that color I hate that I think are very well done. I'm sure there are those out there that hate my current color, but that't their opinion.
I also don't find yellow to be a girly color. Sure, add pink or pale orange flowers and it can be pretty girly, but I've seen quite a few yellow MINIs that are very masculine and aggressive in their styling.

Final pick?

I'm bumping because I was having the same issue. Which did you finally pick?

I am leaning heavily toward Ice Blue with Black. I initially thought I wanted it with white until I saw it IRL, and I personally did not like the combination. I first saw this color at a MINI dealer back in April and it has stuck with me. Husband saw it separately and told me he saw a really nice blue on a MINI and told me about it. I like the Pepper White, but it feels like buying vanilla ice cream, it's wonderful but everywhere I look there it is, I wish they would come out with a prettier more metallic white. The Silver White looks too silver to me, though a beautiful color. I currently own a DS/S MCC so wanted to move on from silver. The other colors are all nice in their own way, though not a fan of the bright primary blues. I would love to see a navy blue (Hampton w/o red)! I like the green, but my mom told me an old superstition that green cars are bad luck so avoid em now. So, on and on I rant....what I DO like about the Ice Blue, that while it doesn't zip along as much as the brighter colors, it is such a serene, soothing color. It calms me just to look at it. And it reminds me of Teddy Roosevelt's quote, "Speak softly and carry a big stick." Or a big motor!

Since you speak of your husband, I will assume you're a women (although this is not necessarily true). I think the ice blue is a beautiful color, but it is definitely a woman's color. Very feminine IMO. I agree that it's soothing and serene, but that's not what most guys are going for in a color. My wife (and I'm a guy) loves Ice Blue.

i think Spice orange with a black roof looks really good. I like my Dark silver though.

Do what ever you think is right. There is no wrong decision only two right ones.

No red for me--I just don't like driving a red car.

I was considering Laser Blue, but was told they didn't offer it for the Justa at that point. So I decided Horizon Blue was the color. But when I saw it in person, it was much darker than I thought it would be, so I changed my mind again at the last minute and ordered Ice Blue.

You can call it "girly" if you like, but you might have to look upward to say it to my face... Personally, I don't care if you think it's an effeminate color, or a "girly car", "hideous", "retro", or anything at all for that matter. I didn't buy the car to impress you, I bought it for me.

And you should get what you like regardless of what others think. I was just giving my opinion which isn't worth much anyway. Heck, I ordered probably the least popular color there is because *I* like it regardless of what anyone else may think of it. I didn't mean to offend. Sorry if I did.

Ditto

Just putting my opinion out there... and I am a girl, but my husband liked it too! I so like the Spice Orange a lot, a huge orange fan, just wanting to get away from a dark colored car, since I have Dark Silver now. The color is something we all have to live with and that's what I think of when buying a car, could I walk up to that color everyday for years and still love it? If yes, then a keeper! If there weren't "Over 10 million" options to choose, we wouldn't all be here talking about them! Keep motoring!
