Room for a 16 inch space saver in MC?

I know this topic has been covered a million times, but I can't quite find the right post/answer to this specific question...I want to order 16 inch wheels on a new 2011 MC (non-S). I know that any wheels over 15 inches will be RFTs, but if I buy a 16 inch space-saver spare, will it fit in that little space under the boot cover where the space-saver that comes standard with the 15 inch tires would live? In other words, I want a 16 inch space saver, but I want to hide it where the 15 inch space saver usually goes. Will that work??

I can't say for sure, but if I were you I would bust out the measuring tape and see what the dimensions of the space you are working with is. That should give you your answer.

**edit**

Sorry didn't see you were ORDERING the car so you probably don't have it handy to measure yet.. d'oh. Hopefully someone with a car and a measuring tape chimes in!

I suppose it could be done...but can I ask why you would want to...?

Is it because you are going to upgrade to 16inch wheels...and to have the space saver match the size?

...if so, is not necessary, many folks put 16 or 17inch wheels on their coopers...and the space saver spare (15") that comes with the car will still work just fine.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if the 15 inch spare would work with the other 16 inch wheels. I guess that as long as it's not on the front or on for long it would probably be ok. Thanks!
