Exploding sunroof glass because of tinting, if this is really the cause, must be because of tint type used or something like that. I had mine tinted 5% for over 3 years with no problems at all...

5% for 2.5 years and no problems. LLUMAR tint. Kind of wish I doubled the 5% on the sunroof.

Heat rejection vs. privacy

I live in Nashville and found the heat from the panoramic sunroof to be oppressive last summer so, I had all my windows tinted. Went with a 70% ceramic for the windshield and pano and 30% carbon for the rest as 35% is the legal limit in Tennessee. The key for me was heat rejection yet I still wanted light through my sunroof and windshield. I learned that heat reflection is different than privacy as you can have dark windows and still have a hot interior. I have found my car is noticeably cooler after sitting in the sun and am very happy with my decision. Even though the ceramic was expensive, I am only planning to do it once.

Tucson, AZ here… I've been really happy with this 'Formula One, Pinnacle Series' ceramic tint I got from these guys.
Darkest option on the sunroof, 35% on the sides and rear.

Nearly 2 years in, and no problems.

I used SunTek "Ulta-VisionPS 70% on the windshield and Pano and the Carbon Series 35% on the other windows. Guys at Performance Films in Nashville are great.

Yeah, you said that.
Didn't know tint on a windshield was legal in Tennessee (or anywhere else, for that matter).

you are correct

Technically you are right, but you could not tell it with the naked eye and the since so much of the interior heat comes from the windshield and pano, there would not be much reduction of interior temps without it IMHO.

Not legal in Tennessee

I got 35% tints, however the installation company did warn me that it was illegal in the state of Tennessee. As far as putting tint on the windscreen, that is just asking for trouble. Actually I have a hard time seeing out my side windows at 35% at nights .. especially turning left and there is a median somewhere to my left in the center of the road. Very nice in the daylight though.
