R56 At what point should I give up?
I have been watching this string and just want to tell you what I always tell my sons: If you need an answer right now, it's "No."
So if I were to offer any advice, it would be, don't rush into anything, especially buying a $30,000 car.

I wrote this in another thread and I think it applies here as well:
Unless you're in a hurry, I would at least wait for official details and photos of the 2011 refresh to appear on MotoringFile. At that point a 2010 should still be available to order for at least another month, or you may like the 2011 changes enough that you want to wait. I feel that the 2011 is so close that you may miss an opportunity for a better informed decision about which way to go.
I could be wrong about how the timing will go this time, but it in the past they never announced changes for the following year, and simultaneously said that the current year model is no longer available to order and new orders must be for next year's model. There was always some overlap and opportunity to still order the current year model.
During the 1st gen, the 2005 refresh turned out to be worth waiting for. I suspect it may be the case this time as well. Personally all of the updates that have been mentioned on MotoringFile are changes that I would want.

Thanks a lot guys!
For right now I am waiting, I just sent my MA an email saying I am passing on getting a MINI at the moment so that I can do more looking around and thinking before making such a large purchase.
I feel much better now.
I'm not going to slow down in my search at all, I'm just not going to let them pressure me into making my decision RIGHT NOW. lol

Thanks again, and I will definitely keep everyone updated as to what ends up working out for me.

So, I ordered my MINI today.
First I did the credit application, with my husband as a co-signer. I was.. denied. I was heartbroken, literally in the depths of despair. I tried to take it as I wasn't meant for one yet, that God had a better plan down the road.( still super depressed though)
Well, a day later I get a call from Jeanan, the financial manager at MINI of Alexandria, such a helpful nice woman. She told me the reason I was denied wasn't because of my credit. (I checked once I was denied, and found I have pretty darn good credit) But it was because we weren't making enough money. As I am on the phone with her, my husband tells me that I had wrote down the incorrect amount that he makes(but didn't bother to change it himself!!) since I am fairly new to the military life, a whole bunch of money is added AFTER taxes. And I was using our taxes to fill out the form.
So once we got that squared away, I was more than able to be approved!
So in 6-8 weeks I will be the proud owner of a 2010 Dark Silver MINI cooper S!

I ordered my 2010 MCS from Passport Mini of Alexandria, too. Jeanan is very nice and helpful, but I haven't had the greatest experiences with some of the other peeps. Nothing horrid--no dealbreakers. Just make sure you go over everything with a fine tooth comb

I wouldn't worry about the Dark Silver, as they are replacing it with Eclipse Silver, which so close to Dark Silver, I don't know what the difference is. There is a picture of the Eclipse Dark Silver on the 2011 unmasked look of the Mini S. Order what you want and in the 2011. In the end, you'll probably be much happier.
In my case it took a few days. Your dealer MA will also have more info at times than you can find. Call them and ask what they are showing. Also check out the thread how to track your MINI for more details

The waiting is torture but the motoring is fun

Thanks, I also LOVE the black crown spokes.
When I went in today I was shocked at how amazing it looked. Kind of funny, I forgot how nice dark silver looks.
The past couple of weeks I had been psyching myself out, worried that dark silver was a bad choice. I was remembering it as having larger chunky metallic looking pieces in it.
I'm so happy with it though.

That is what I heard.
So good luck and congrats.
That is awesome! I hope it is true! Because I have been nervous about things going bad.
on the drive home . . . and I've been fairly lucky with the car so far.
He/she is a beauty! Talking about crown spokes, I picked out my latest MINI from my local dealer's inventory and it was eqipped with black 17" crown spokes. Other than a JCW hardtop on the lot, it was the only Cooper S hardtop setup for sport driving. I've come to love the looks of them but I would change them in a minute for a nice set of web spokes or basket weave BBS.
Thanks,
I am 26 years old, and so far have never had a speeding ticket... I have a feeling that this MINI could end that streak. I am going to try my best, but it is so easy to go fast and not even realize it!
Especially since the next couple of months I will be doing a lot of Interstate driving.
