Required Service but was 7000 miles yesterday ?
Hey All,
So, I'm at 23K and at startup the computer display usually says 7K miles till service. Today, for some reason it is red and says Service like it did when I first had the required service done at 19K. Any ideas why it magically jumped from 7K to now needing Service which shouldn't be until 30K?
Thanks for any input.

It could be a different service indicator such as brakes, brake fluid, or something else. You will need to look at the service items if the OBC to see which one it is.
Use the button at the end of the lights stalk to scroll thru till you get to service/obc then hold until the menu comes up and then scroll to service again and hold then you can scroll thru the service items and see which one is red and that will tell you what it is.

Mine did that when it hit the "year" mark. I had a couple thousand to go and then it turned red. Apparently it is mileage OR time based on the OBC.
That, or there is something else that needs attention as schatzy said.

Your totally right!! Thank you so much. With all the display circles I thought any problem would show up. Not this one, I had to hunt for it like you said. The symbol was low brake fluid, though after checking, it is right there between min and max. So, I guess I will hit the auto parts store and get some fluid for it.

1. low brake fluid
2. time to replace brake fluid.
MINI has a timer on the brake fluid of two years so with yours being an 08 (at least your signature says so) that is probably what is going on if the reservoir is with in the two lines.
Guess what. that service note will come on for at least two reasons.
