Just a point that many may be missing. If it's extremely cold outside (which it is now in ATL at 18º*) you should probably push the recirculate button so no (super cold) outside air is pulled into the cabin.

*Can't drive my car anyway because the road leading up to my neighborhood has ice (and about 20 cars scattered about) and we have very little snow/ice removal here.

My heater does the same thing. I told the dealer about it and they said they couldn't reproduce the problem. I just leave on about 80 right now since it's really cold outside and the 80 degree range on the HVAC is the only thing that stays nice and hot

They probably can not reproduce the problem because they have it inside where it is warm.

I had a problem with a Nissan a few years back where the thermostat would stick only when the temps were below 20 degrees. Dealer told me 4 time that they could not find anything wrong. My fifth time in i demanded to see the procedure they were using. Guess what the car was inside where it was 70 degrees. Once they took the car outside and let it cool down for an hour and then they worked on it and tested it out side the problem showed up right away.

It is very difficult to find a cold weather only problem when you are working in a heated garage.

It was 15F this morning on my way to work. My car is garage kept, so it was probably about 45F when I started it. The auto climate control temp was set to 72F. After about 10 minutes or so, the car was putting out heat on my feet and felt fine. If I set it hotter than 72F, it would just feel too hot to me. I suggest that you take yours in to get checked!

FWIW I set my Clubman to 68 (I don't like when the car blows too fast to "catch up") and so far this winter, it suffices. It is garage kept, like MrTIer, about 40 when I get in it.

Good point, when my A/C is set to Auto, the "SnowFlake" lights up in Green, if I adjust anything its usually the Fan Speed and the light remains on.

The A/C helps take moisture out of the air and helps prevent the windows from fogging over in cold weather. Turning on recirculate will trap the moisture coming from you and your cloths in the car and cause the windows to fog over. You should be able to reduce the fogging by taking it out of recirculate every few minutes.

The A/C compressor doesn't engage below about 35*, so even tho the snowflake light is on, you don't have any drying effect from the A/C - nor do you usually need any when it's cold, heating the air drys it out anyway.....

I hadn't thought about using the recirc button, I may have to try that the next couple of days when it's only about 5* out here in KC...

I've been having the same problem. Forgot all about it, yesterday when the car was at the dealer! Even more frustrating is the fact that my warranty runs out in 10 days and the dealer is 1.5 hours from my house!
